An Inaugural Seminar Series
The seminar will explore the promotion of an African-Caribbean tourism trade route - Transatlantic Trade Reimagined. The seminar examines how indigenous and neglected crops – long overlooked yet climate-resilient and nutritionally rich – can serve as entry points into a regenerative, culturally grounded tourism economy. Together, we will examine how these crops, when paired with the regions’ wellness, culinary, cultural and creative traditions and assets can drive: (i) agritourism and rural development (ii) new trade opportunities in tourism-linked goods and services; (iii) South–South cultural and economic exchange; and (iv) heritage preservation and food sovereignty
